Top Marks on A-level Results Day

Huge congratulations to all our 2022 leavers on A-level results day. The culmination of their time at Epsom is always nerve-wracking, but this year’s outcomes show that a fine group of students can look back with pride on how they have applied themselves across all aspects of their education at Epsom College.

This year’s leavers are celebrating an outstanding set of A-level results, with 62% of A-levels graded A*-A and 85% awarded A*-B.

The return to externally-moderated exams after the Covid years created a unique set of challenges; however, our students have nonetheless performed admirably. Just under half of our 168 leavers gained a clean sweep of A*-A grades.

Headmaster, Mr Jay Piggot, commented, “This year’s excellent outcomes reflect the rigorous preparation and the quality of the experience created in the classroom by pupils and teachers. I am particularly delighted to witness such a high percentage of top grades, but this is only part of the story. The leavers of 2022 have worked assiduously and deserve their academic success; they leave Epsom as confident young people with a broad range of attributes and interests developed skilfully over time at Epsom and this education will serve a lifetime. The values learned and the experience gained has prepared them for the journey ahead.”

Outstanding results have been recorded across a wide range of academic departments and disciplines, with Art, Biology, Drama, Economics, French, History, Maths, Latin and Photography all achieving over 70% A*-As.

“There is no finer reflection of the breadth of quality teaching on offer at Epsom than the fact so many departments, from arts and humanities to languages and sciences, are helping students achieve these top grades,” said Mr Piggot.

The A-level results round off a superb year that saw Epsom shortlisted for Boarding School of the Year and Co-Educational Independent School of the Year; become one of only four schools in the UK to be awarded ‘Gold’ by the Carnegie Centre for the quality of pastoral care provided; and win national sporting titles in Hockey, Rugby, Squash, Shooting and Swimming.
