Visit to the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland

Last week, sixteen Lower and Upper Sixth potential medics visited the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland’s new National Surgical and Clinical Skills Centre. The group was fortunate to take part in a number of immersive lectures and simulations. During the two-day visit students learnt skills such as inserting naso-gastric tubes, drawing blood and taking vitals. This was combined with lessons in human factors such as informed consent and patient history.
