Sport Round Up – 21 October

In Hockey this week there were five wins, five draws and only three losses against Bradfield at the weekend, including wins for the 1st, 3rd, U15Ds and U14AB teams. The Lower School pupils played good matches against strong Cranleigh Prep sides. Jess Dyson (Upper Sixth, White) scored for Surbiton Hockey Club on her Premier League debut on her 18th birthday.

There were great wins for the 1st, 2nd and U12A, U14A, U15A and U16A Rugby teams, among others against The Skinners’ School in a balanced fixture with nine wins and eight losses. The Lower School boys took to the field for their House Rugby competition. Glyn Hughes won in the Year 7 competition and Hutchison came top in the Year 8 competition. Congratulations to both teams.

It’s been a busy week on the Squash courts, with the Girls’ House competition and Epsom players taking part in the Titan Silver Squash Open in Brighton. Izzy Hutton (Year 10, Wilson) came top in the U15 girls’ event at the competition, sailing through the first round winning the match in three games and overcoming a tough match in the final to take home the trophy. Most of the group played up an age group and were challenged against their opposition, playing great games and putting on a fantastic display of skill and technique representing the College.

The annual Girls’ House Squash competition resulted in a draw between two girls boarding houses, Crawfurd and Wilson. Congratulations to Izzy Hutton and Maja Maziuk (Wilson) and Savannah Ingledew and Flo Tanguy (Crawfurd) for their winning performances.
