Overall Purpose
An exciting opportunity to supervise the use of the sports facilities at Epsom College; overseeing pupils, staff, hirers and parents whilst they use the various amenities and effectively dealing with health and safety matters as well as the smooth running of the operations at the Sports Centre and sports facilities. The candidate must be able to provide a friendly, efficient service, with the highest standards of customer care for those visiting the facilities.

The School
Epsom College is a co-educational day and boarding school with just over 1150 pupils aged 11-18. The College is located approximately one mile from Epsom town, below Epsom Downs, in fine buildings set in a beautiful tree filled campus of some 72 acres. Originally founded by The Royal Medical Benevolent Foundation, today the College strives to develop the individual talents of every girl and boy. Pupils are prepared for life beyond the College with an assured set of values and with the belief that they can make a difference in society. Highest standards of excellence in academic work and co-curricular activities are expected, but equally valued is the development of the pupils into independent responsible adults with a purpose and an understanding of the benefits of contributing to their community.
The College has its own Sports Centre which comprises of a fitness suite, dance studio, 2 sports halls, fencing salle, 6 squash courts, and 25m indoor swimming pool. The outside facilities include two artificial pitches for hockey, tennis and football (one of which is floodlit) and 9 netball/tennis courts.
Key Responsibilities
- To supervise the day-to-day running of the Sports Centre, including bookings and general
- To adopt a positive customer focused approach interacting with all users during their visit to the
- To lifeguard the staff swimming sessions (training and qualification provided) and hiring of the swimming pool during holidays.
- To ensure the safe opening and closure of the sports facilities, which includes the Pool, Fitness Suite, Sports Centre and any other sports facility in use.
- To supervise bookings with the hirers and ensure that they keep to their booking times and following NOPs always.

- To respond to an emergency quickly and effectively following College
- To implement Normal Operating Procedures (NOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
Main Duties
- To supervise the use of the sports facilities, ensuring it is appropriate, and to always ensure the safety and welfare of all users, giving appropriate guidance and advice to hirers as and when necessary.

Essential Skills, Experience and Attributes
First Aid – Emergency at work qualification (can be obtained after appointment and prior to commencement)
Lifeguarding (NPLQ) qualification (can be obtained after appointment and prior to commencement) A minimum of a Level 2 – Gym Instructor or Level 2 – Sports Coaching
Good communication and interpersonal skills

Terms and Conditions
Salary: Total salary circa £6,480 per annum based on the hours below.
Hours: Saturday 9am-12.30pm/5.30pm-10.30pm
9-10.30am supervising sports facilities 10.30-12.30 pool lifeguard
5.30-10.30pm supervising sports facilities
Holidays: The holiday entitlement is 20 days per annum increasing by one additional day each year to reach a maximum of 25 days, in addition to Public Holidays, calculated pro rata for part time working.
Pension: The College operates the Epsom College Automatic Enrolment Scheme. The Scheme is administered by the Pensions Trust. Eligibility is based on statutory criteria. If eligible,
the Employee will be required to contribute a minimum of 5% of Basic Salary and the College will contribute 4% in compliance with pension regulations.
