Boys' uniform

Compulsory uniform

  • 2 House ties*
  • 1 traditional two or three-piece, single-breasted suit – black, charcoal grey or navy blue, plain or pin-striped
  • 1 v-necked pullover, single colour
  • 2 plain white shirts – to be worn for formal occasions
  • 4 other shirts – must be pale shade of colour, and may have a faint stripe
  • 6 pairs black or dark grey socks
  • 1 pair black polishable shoes, sensible style and unadorned (no boots)
  • 2 holdalls – one for books, one for sports clothing

Optional uniform

  • 1 plain, dark-coloured overcoat, raincoat, waxed jacket or similar, which must be long enough to cover the blazer. It should not be leather, nor should it display large lettering or logos
  • 1 padlock (a second may be required in Day houses)
  • 1 trunk or large case, plus padlock (recommended for Boarders)
  • 1 tuck box, plus padlock

Girls' uniform

Compulsory uniform

  • 1 House lapel badge*
  • A traditional navy, black or charcoal suit, with jacket with lapels and buttons at the front. Girls may choose to wear skirts or trousers as part of the suit, which must be of matching fabric to the jacket. Skirts and trousers must be tailored to a traditional design, skirts fitted to the knee.
  • 2 plain white shirts – to be worn for formal occasions
  • 4 other shirts of a pale shade, with a faint stripe permitted
  • 6 pairs of tights – black, nearly black or flesh-coloured. No bare legs.
  • 1 pair of black polishable shoes, sensible style and unadorned. No boots or ballet-style pumps. Maximum heel height 5cm
  • 2 holdalls – one for books, one for sports clothing

What else to bring

In addition to the above, you may need to bring the following additional items. 

Boarders only

  • bathroom flannels and towels
  • toiletries
  • nightwear
  • padlocks (for optional tuck box and/or lockable cupboard in room for personal belongings)
  • mufti (own clothes). Pupils may wear their own clothes after 6pm, and after 3pm on Saturdays.

Laundry

Clothes are washed in the College laundry and returned to the Boarding House within 48 hours. Pupils may also bring, if they wish, items to personalise their room such as photos and posters and tuck (snacks/treats).

Bedding

The College supplies all duvets, pillows and covers which meet fire safety regulations. Pupils are not permitted to supply their own bedding. Whilst small electrical devices (such as laptops, hairdryers, phone chargers etc) are permitted, pupils are not permitted to bring any cooking equipment (eg, kettles, rice cookers), television sets or any other electrical equipment.

Refrigerators

Small personal fridges are only permitted for students who require this for storage of medication and the Housemaster/Mistress must be made aware of this in advance. All electrical devices brought into the College will be PAT tested to ensure they meet UK safety regulations.

All pupils

Please ensure you have a carefully labelled pencil case when you arrive in September. Where possible, please label the contents of the pencil case.

It is our intention to generate as little waste as possible. We, therefore, recommend that water bottles should be reusable and clearly labelled.

College Store

The Epsom College Store is the only authorised supplier of College uniform. Appointments for uniform fitting are strictly by booking only and can be made by emailing shop@epsomcollege.org.uk or phoning 01372 821122.

The College Store offers a labelling service, for an additional charge.

Online Orders

You are welcome to order online. A click-and-collect service is in operation throughout the summer holidays, during normal opening hours. Orders are fulfilled weekly.

During the summer holidays the College Store will be open as follows:

Appointment Bookings

  • One-hour appointments are available from 9am-3pm, Monday 3 July until Friday 1 September.
  • Appointments are available Monday to Friday only.

Walk-In Appointments for International Students

  • Walk-in appointments are available for overseas students Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September.
  • Walk-in hours will be 9am-4pm.
